Program Overview

Venture is an overnight camp that allows children and teens to see that living as a Catholic in today’s culture is actually a pretty bold and daring move, while also a total blast.

Venture is offered to three age groups:

  • Venture Mini (3 day) is offered to children entering grades 4-6*
  • Venture for Middle Schoolers (5 day) is offered to teens entering grades 7-9
  • Venture for High Schoolers (5 days) is offered to teens entering grades 10-12

Venture offers children and teens opportunities to stretch themselves as they try exciting new activities such as archery, ropes course elements, axe throwing, log rolling, arts & crafts, creek and hiking adventures, and camp-wide evening shenanigans and campfires. They’ll make lasting friendships and spend time with the Lord through Mass, engaging prayer experiences, and bible studies as they discover that a life with Jesus is anything but boring.

  • Campers divided into single-gender small groups, each with their own fully-trained counselor
  • Campers sleep in bunk-style lodges
  • Separate weeks for Elementary, Middle, and High Schoolers
  • Camp check-in is Monday morning
  • The closing program for families is Saturday morning
  • For questions or information about additional scholarship options, contact Sherry at sherry@drybonespgh.org

FAQs

Understanding our Tiered Pricing and Additional Scholarship Availability

For all camp programs, we offer a voluntary three-tiered pricing model based on the needs of our families. This program is completely confidential and in no way affects the quality of the camp experience. Price selection is done strictly on an honor system. If you can afford to pay the full fee (Tier 2) or add additional support to sustain our scholarship fund (Tier 3), please do so. If you cannot, simply select the right price for your family’s circumstances and/or reach out to us about additional scholarships. You’ll be given the option to choose your rate for yourself during the registration process.

  • Tier 1 is a subsidized rate, funded by support from donors to the greatest extent possible, and provided for families whose children would not otherwise be able to attend camp.
  • Tier 2 represents the actual cost of camp operations, including well-trained staff and long-term wear, tear and depreciation. If you are able to pay this rate, please do so.
  • Tier 3 reflects your personal discernment that you’re in a financial situation that allows you to help us make Catholic camp more attainable for all youth and is a commitment to do so. To learn more about additional ways to support our scholarship fund, contact us at camp@drybonespgh.org

Additional Scholarships: We are very grateful that, through the support of grant money from the Diocese of Pittsburgh and DBM donors, we are currently poised to offer scholarships making it such that no camper is left behind. We believe every child should get to have a fun, adventurous week away with the Lord in the midst of holy community, so please reach out to us for more information if tier 1 doesn’t offer enough financial assistance for your family or for someone else you know wants to come to camp.
