Program Overview

Explore is a day camp program for elementary-aged students (entering grades 1-6 in Fall 2024).

Explore runs Monday-Friday, 9:00am – 3:45pm (see bus times below) and includes exciting activities like ropes course elements, log rolling, archery, creek stomping, arts and crafts, nature hikes, Mass, and bible lessons.

FAQs

Understanding our Tiered Pricing and Additional Scholarship Availability

For all camp programs, we offer a voluntary three-tiered pricing model based on the needs of our families. This program is completely confidential and in no way affects the quality of the camp experience. Price selection is done strictly on an honor system. If you can afford to pay the full fee (Tier 2) or add additional support to sustain our scholarship fund (Tier 3), please do so. If you cannot, simply select the right price for your family’s circumstances and/or reach out to us about additional scholarships. You’ll be given the option to choose your rate for yourself during the registration process.

  • Tier 1 is a subsidized rate, funded by support from donors to the greatest extent possible, and provided for families whose children would not otherwise be able to attend camp.
  • Tier 2 represents the actual cost of camp operations, including well-trained staff and long-term wear, tear and depreciation. If you are able to pay this rate, please do so.
  • Tier 3 reflects your personal discernment that you’re in a financial situation that allows you to help us make Catholic camp more attainable for all youth and is a commitment to do so. To learn more about additional ways to support our scholarship fund, contact us at camp@drybonespgh.org

Additional Scholarships: We are very grateful that, through the support of grant money from the Diocese of Pittsburgh and DBM donors, we are currently poised to offer scholarships making it such that no camper is left behind. We believe every child should get to have a fun, adventurous week away with the Lord in the midst of holy community, so please reach out to us for more information if tier 1 doesn’t offer enough financial assistance for your family or for someone else you know wants to come to camp. COVID-19

As we prepare for summer 2024, we are excited to see current best practices that allow for Covid to have less of an impact on daily life for all of us. We’re incredibly hopeful to run camp this summer free from much Covid-related adjustments. We will still be listening to and in dialogue with, leaders at the local, diocesan, and state levels about our health and safety protocols to help inform our policies for taking safety very seriously. Still, we strongly desire to give campers a natural, uninterrupted camp experience.
